Empowering India’s Irradiation Industry: IIAI’s Milestones

The irradiation industry is making steady progress in India and has seen growth over the past few years. and thus, a few of us, entrepreneurs formed and registered the Irradiation Industries Association of India (IIAI)

The association provides a common platform and support to the irradiation industry with the objective of advancing the safe and beneficial use of Irradiation technology

The IIAI is also concerned about the manpower situation and put in utmost efforts to liaise between the Industry and the Regulators. Apart from making representations before the AERB, and others on common issues faced by the entrepreneurs, the stakeholders requested the RP&AD authority to hold certification courses for both RPF-Operators and RPF-RSO categories.

However, the pandemic presented difficulties, and this could not be arranged. IIAI then volunteered to hold virtual classes for the RS-Operators course and was given the authorisation by the RP&AD. Thus, IIAI has started holding the Operators course from August 2021.

The IIAI took this to the next level and proposed RP&AD to organise the RSOs courses too. IIAI has listed out potential faculty members from the industry and roped in Ex-DAE subject experts for teaching purposes. The IIAI has successfully organised 1st RSO course in August 2022. IIAI has been working for the benefit of the irradiation industry and inviting suggestions from the industry for improving services and growth of Radiation Processing Technology across all states in the country.
